What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Contact forms
Our Member Details form asks you to provide your contact details in order to register your membership with us and to subscribe to communications from us. It also enables us to verify that you are eligible for certain Club benefits. The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information and includes name, email address, home address, Hong Kong ID number, mobile phone number, date of birth, PayPal Receipt Number/Transaction ID and Liverpool FC Official Membership Number. The details collected are kept for one year. We do not use your data for marketing purposes.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register for our Chat Room, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Member Details form data is retained for one year.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This may render you ineligible for certain benefits our Club provides.

Six Data Protection Principles
We follow the Six Data Protection Principles (“DPPs”) which represent the core of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) covering the life cycle of a piece of personal data in Hong Kong.
DPP1 – Data Collection Principle
Personal data must be collected in a lawful and fair way, for a purpose directly related to a function /activity of the data user.
Data subjects must be notified of the purpose and the classes of persons to whom the data may be transferred.
Data collected should be necessary but not excessive.
DPP2- Accuracy & Retention Principle
Practicable steps shall be taken to ensure personal data is accurate and not kept longer than is necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it is used.
DPP3 – Data Use Principle
Personal data must be used for the purpose for which the data is collected or for a directly related purpose, unless voluntary and explicit consent with a new purpose is obtained from the data subject.
DPP4 – Data Security Principle
A data user needs to take practicable steps to safeguard personal data from unauthorised or accidental access, processing , erasure, loss or use.
DPP5 – Openness Principle
A data user must take practicable steps to make personal data policies and practices known to the public regarding the types of personal data it holds and how the data is used.
DPP6 – Data Access & Correction Principle
A data subject must be given access to his/her personal data and allowed to make corrections if it is inaccurate.
